Each week, we want to introduce you to a Harrison's Hardworking Hero. These folks come from all walks of life, and could be anyone. We might feature the people who keep you safe, the people who keep things running, the people with the coolest jobs we've heard of, or just the people who shop in our stores. We might even feature you. We're always taking nominations, and you can get in touch with us by emailing jed@harrisonsworkwear.com. We only ask that you be willing to answer a few questions, and we'll reward you with a gift card.
This week, Tonea in our Mooresville store caught up with Leslie Smith, the Animal Care Coordinator at Rescue Ranch.
Leslie has worked for more than six years at the Rescue Ranch in Statesville, NC. Her favorite part of her job is of course the animals, but she also enjoys being with her co-workers. No day is ever the same at the Ranch for Leslie so that keeps her on her toes. The Ranch has 82 animals currently and Leslie is responsible for coordinating their care through employees and volunteers.
She is dedicated to the mission statement of the Rescue Ranch which is to educate the next generation about the commitment and care needed to provide a home for an animal family member. Rescue Ranch does this through camps and classes for schools or private groups.
Leslie is looking forward to shopping at Harrison's as she has not had the chance to shop with us yet. We're sure waterproof boots will be on her list of must haves after visiting her on a rainy day.
A couple of the big things on Leslie's wish list are an outdoor enclosure for Pineapple and a poultry run for her turkeys, Thelma and Louise and special needs rooster, Dwight. Pineapple is a beautiful female tortoise that is outgrowing her indoor home. Dwight, Thelma and Louise would like to run around all day with their goat buddies. Due to a pesky hawk though their run needs to be covered. If you'd like to help Leslie complete these projects, visit @rescueranch on Facebook for more information.
